Introduction

Our aim is to make access to the information and functions on this the Victorian Government Careers accesible for all visitors. We provide online information in a format that makes it accessible to the broadest and most varied audience. This includes those with a disability.

Accessibility Standards

This site meets these requirements and It complies with the World Wide Web Consortium's Level 1 Priority of Web Accessibility Initiatives.

This site has been tested and approved by Watchfire's Bobby accessibility software. 'Bobby Approved' is a quantifiable measure of whether an entire website is accessible to people with disabilities.

As this site is mainly text, there's no text-only version. Instead, we use alternative text to describe graphic appearance and function. The text size can be adjusted in View on your browser.

This site displays adequately on all common browsers and can be operated via accessibility hardware or software. Though designed for 800 x 600 screen resolution, the site scales appropriately to higher and lower resolutions.

PDF icon Adobe PDF

Adobe PDF is a universal file format that retains all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that can be viewed, navigated, forwarded to others, or printed exactly as it appears on screen, using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

Converting a PDF to text
A conversion service offered by Adobe that will convert to text Adobe PDF files that are in English and most West European languages. Visit: www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_onlinetools.html

Still experiencing difficulties with PDF?

A number of documents are presented in standard PDF format. To view these documents you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. Acrobat Reader is free of charge.

The full version of Acrobat Reader 6.0 is recommended as it includes accessibility features. It is available at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html

Many users find PDF Format documents convenient however some users may have difficulties opening or reading PDF documents. You may wish to use one of the free Adobe PDF Conversion Tools available at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_onlinetools.html

You can choose how to submit a PDF Format document and the document format you want it converted to (html or text).

You may also request from us a suitable version of a document. Please send an email with the title of the document you require, its location or URL on our website, and whether an MS Word or RTF (Rich Text Format) document is preferred.

Excel icon Microsoft Excel

Links indicated by the PowerPoint icon will open as a slideshow if you have PowerPoint installed.
With the free PowerPoint Viewer, if you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint you can view PowerPoint 95, 97, 2000, and 2002 presentations.

ZIP icon ZIP files

ZIP files are 'archives' used for storing or distributing files and can contain one or more files which are usually compressed to save space. ZIP files make it easy to group files and make transporting and copying these files faster.

Links indicated by the ZIP icon will launch an expansion utility if you have one installed.

Download tips

If you are experiencing problems opening a download file (such as a PDF or Word file), try saving it to your computer before opening:

  1. Right-click on the link to display the shortcut menu (or Control+Click on a mac)
  2. Select 'Save Target As' from menu (or 'Download link to disk' on a mac)
  3. Browse to the directory where you want to save the file
  4. Select 'Save'
  5. Navigate to the directory where you just saved the file and double-click to open it.

New browser windows

When a new window is about to open, we let you know before you select a link, for example:
Icon - Link to a page outside Land Exchange (new window).
If you have Javascript disabled the link will still open but not in a new window.

Many users find this annoying or confusing. Some sites we link to do not let you use the 'Back' button. This makes it difficult for you to return to our site. We have tried to limit new windows opening so that you can stay in control of your navigation.
